Philippe Perez

Philippe Perez began his career with a satellite manufacturing company (Thales Alenia Space) involved in remote sensing and image intelligence.
Having then joined the French Foreign Service in 1995, Philippe was appointed to the French embassy in Japan, with the mandate to foster science-based collaborations and lead organize high-level study missions in the fields of robotics, nanotechnology and electronics.
Philippe was based in San Francisco from 2014 to 2019 as science and technology attaché, immersed within the Silicon Valley ecosystem of AI, IoT, MedTech, Mobility and Clean Energy start-ups. As part of his mission, he developed various Franco-US initiatives, which included collaborations with top-tier universities (Stanford, UC Berkeley and UCSF) and an acceleration program for French deeptech start-ups, in collaboration with Bpifrance.
Between his various diplomatic assignments, Philippe Perez also served as Head of Provence-Alps-French Riviera’s regional innovation agency, working closely with public research labs, technology transfer offices (TTOs) and European funding specialists.
Philippe Perez is a telecom engineer specialized in image processing (MSc from Telecom ParisTech). He also studied robotic vision at the University of Pennsylvania.
